2          Minutes of Last Meeting

The minutes of the last meeting were agreed without amendment.

3          Matters Arising

Nick Acheson/Arthur Williamson have been approached to write an article on the   Voluntary and Community Sector for Shared Space

4         Strategic Plan

A newer version of the strategic plan is to be e-mailed to all Committee members.  The strategic plan will be going out for public consultation next week. Ms McCandless suggested that there should be a clear definition of what is meant by a shared society and how this would be measured.

It was also suggested that all Council Members should be able to do media interviews on CRC’s behalf.  There is a real need to be able to communicate what a shared society is.  Currently the Policy Department are working on a series of position papers which will help feed in to the key messages.

5          Publications Grant Scheme

£5000 is still to be committed this financial year.  There are 3 possible recipients   for this award.

A letter has gone out to all EU and Core Funded groups asking them if they would like to publish resource material connected with any training that they are delivering.

6          CR Week

Letters have gone to all District Councils, CEO’s of public sector bodies, political parties, all EU and Core Funded groups to encourage them to organise relevant events during the week.

A business case has been put to CRU for funding to enable CRC to engage a PR Company to help with the organisation of the week.  There has been no response as yet.

Belfast City Council is running a series of events celebrating the 50th         anniversary of the EC.   They are also running an event for employers about    good relations in the workplace which is being based on Neil Jarmin’s research.

Dr Morrow is keen to run an event with political parties that CRC would host.

The Policy conference is also being run during the week with the possibility of a     minister attending.

There was a suggestion that Trevor Phillips may be asked to come to do a public lecture or seminar either during the week or at another time that would suit him.

7          CR Award

A paper is going to Council to be ratified about nominations for this award.  All nominations should be back to CRC by 17 March 2007.  A panel will be set up to make the final decision on who should receive the award this year.

Dr Crozier suggested that last year’s recipient and the organisation they work for should be named in the advertisement.

8          Morrow Communications

Morrow Communications gave a presentation to the Committee on their plans for the ‘My Day’ series of programmes for primary school children.  A series of 10      programmes will be made each concentrating on a particular child from an ethnic            community.  This series of programmes will concentrate on the sameness of             each child as well as some cultural differences.

9          Gig In the Park

Will be discussed at the next Committee meeting in March.

10

Dr Crozier asked for a recommendation in principle for next year’s media grant  scheme.  She suggested that the 2007/2008 award should be based on the ‘My Day’ concept with teens as this year’s is for younger children.  The Committee agreed with this in principle.

11        Date of Next Meeting

Mr Mullan to circulate future dates
