The Consumer Council is working with Steps to distribute Polish, Portuguese and Lithuanian Home Budget Planners into migrant communities - to date the Consumer Council has distributed over 35,000 budget planners to the community and voluntary sector.

This cultural celebration day will involve a range of initiatives including a basketball match, music and dance, food sampling, children’s entertainment and a panel discussion. The Lithuanian Embassy is supporting this and will provide a full consular service to the local community at the Council offices on Sunday 27th April.

Young people explore the issues of bullying due to race, faith and culture through the medium of drama, recorded on DVD. The SELB Inclusion Unit will use the DVD as a resource to help youth settings develop their anti bullying policy and create inclusive cultures.

The members of Dungannon Area Clergy Forum will be hosting a facilitate workshop to discuss the findings of the report compiled from the Fellowship Meal they hosted back in January. This exercise will use the information from the event to shape the work and planned activities of the Forum for the next 12 months.

The conference will provide independent perspectives on contemporary racism and will involve race relations representatives from Northern Ireland’s main political parties in seeking a strategic direction in addressing racism. Keynote speakers are Arun Kundnani from the Institute of Race Relations, researcher Dr Robbie McVeigh and Bernadette McAliskey of STEP. Workshop topics include racism in the workplace and racism faced by Travellers.
